Brazil electoral court brings voting machine simulator back online
Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court has made its electronic ballot box simulator available online again. On the court’s website, Brazilians have a chance to review the order of the posts open for vote in the October elections.
Before starting the simulation, visitors must choose first or second round. Next, the screen will show the post being disputed and the parties participating in the mock election. After clicking on the parties, the names and numbers of the fictitious candidates will appear. The user makes their choice, type in the corresponding number in the ballot box, and click “confirm.”
The first post to be filled in the simulation is federal representative. Next come the candidates for state or district representative, senator, state governor, and president.
The simulator was implemented in the 2014 elections. According to the electoral authorities, the tool helps Brazilians become familiar with the electronic ballot box and can speed up voting and reduce lines at polling stations.
