Justice orders Rumble to appoint legal representative in Brazil

Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court ordered on Thursday (Feb. 20) that the social network Rumble appoint a legal representative in Brazil within 48 hours. Failure to comply could result in the platform's suspension and a fine.
The decision was made after the justice found that the company had no representative in Brazil. Case files show that the company's lawyers resigned, and no new representatives have been appointed.
"The Brazilian legal system therefore requires companies managing internet services in the country to have headquarters in national territory and comply with court orders to remove illegal content generated by third parties. Failure to do so may result in personal liability," Moraes ruled.
The justice's decision comes as former US President Donald Trump's media group and Rumble appeal to US courts, accusing him of “censorship” and suspending user accounts.
