Brazilian President Lula has released BRL 6.5 billion in extraordinary credit for the recovery of areas affected by extreme weather events. The provisional measure was issued Tuesday (Dec. 24).
The funds can be used by the Ministry of Cities to recover infrastructure in these areas.
At the beginning of December, the president had already issued a provisional measure authorizing the government to join a private fund managed by state-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal for the recovery of areas hit by disasters. These funds will be earmarked specifically for Rio Grande do Sul, affected by floods from April to May this year.
