Survey shows Rousseff with 40% of vote support
An election poll released Monday (Sep 29) shows presidential candidate and current President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff (Workers' Party, PT) leading the race with 40% of vote support, followed by her rival Marina Silva (Brazilian Socialist Party, PSB), with 24%. Third place is Aécio Neves (PSDB, Brazilian Social Democracy Party), with 18%. The study was conducted by Vox Populi and commissioned by TV network Rede Record.
The poll further reports the other competitors—Luciana Genro (PSOL), Pastor Everaldo (PSC), Eduardo Jorge (PV), Levy Fidelix (PRTB), Zé Maria (PSTU), Eymael (PSDC), Mauro Iasi (PCB), and Rui Costa Pimenta (PCO)—as having 1% of less of vote intention. Blank or spoiled ballots amount to 6% and 11% of respondents were unable to name a candidate or did not want to answer.
Vox Populi carried out two possible scenarios for a second-round runoff. Should Marina Silva face Dilma Rousseff, the latter would be re-elected, with 46% of support, against her challenger's 39%. As for a dispute between Rousseff and Aécio, the current president would also win, with 48% versus 38%.
For this survey, 2 thousand interviews were held in 147 cities last weekend. The margin of error is 2.2 percentage points and the reliability level is 95%.
