Next Sunday (Oct 25), when the election runoffs are to take place—deciding Brazil's president as well as the governors of 13 states and the Federal District—nearly 15 thousand men from the Army, Navy and Air Force will work in 15 states in order to ensure the security of the vote and its logistics.

In the first round, federal troops backed the Electoral Justice in 12 states, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Altogether, the federal troops will be sent to 280 locations, as per a ruling from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). In most places, the purpose of the troops will be to maintain order. In others, the military will provide logistical support for the delivery of the voting machines.

By Saturday, the court is expected to respond to the other requests for military reinforcements on election day.
