The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) is due to announce the partial results of the counting of  votes for president at 7 pm (local time in Brasília, GMT-3). The schedule has been so planned in an attempt not to influence electors who have not yet voted on account of the different time zones, where ballots are still being cast. Polls closed at 5 pm in most of Brazil.

Compared to the time in Brasília, the states of Roraima, Amazonas, Rondônia, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul are one hour late. In Acre and part of Amazonas, a 2-hour delay is observed.

During a press conference, TSE President Minister Dias Toffoli said the court is not concerned with breaking the time record. He says elections do not compete among themselves. We are not interested in seeing who does their job most quickly. Our goal is to hold safe and transparent elections. “At any rate, I don't think there'll be any delays. We haven't departed from the regular routine,” the minister stressed.

Of the 135 in the 89 countries where Brazilian electors vote for president, 69 have closed polls at 5 pm (also GMT-3), but results will only be put out at 7.
