President Dilma Rousseff wrote a Christmas message to the Brazilian people Wednesday (Dec 24), on her Twitter page: “I wish, from the bottom of my heart, a Merry Christmas to all Brazilian families!”

The president should spend Christmas at the presidential residence with her family, and go on Thursday (25) to Aratu Naval Base, near Bahia's state capital Salvador, where she spent the holidays last year with her daughter Paula and grandson Gabriel.

This year, however, Rousseff is expected to return to Brasília before New Year's Day, as she declared she would announce the last members of her second-term cabinet by next Monday, December 29.

Rousseff's inauguration has been slated for January 1, at 3 p.m.

The president also used her Twitter account to send a special message to the Unified Favela Center (CUFA). “To all friends from @CUFA_Brasil, a tight Christmas hug!”
