Marcelo Odebrecht
Supreme Court Justice Teori Zavascki denied Thursday (Oct. 22) a request for the release of construction tycoon Marcelo Odebrecht, arrested during Operation Car Wash. He has been imprisoned in city of Curitiba since June.
In the ruling, the justice maintains that there was nothing unlawful in the arrest order signed by Federal Judge Sérgio Moro. Zavascki therefore decided that the accused should wait for the matter to be reconsidered.
Marcelo Odebrecht's lawyer Nabor Bulhões said that the ruling of a new arrest was an arbitrary act by Judge Sérgio Moro. “The applicant is calling for help! The integrity of the system is calling for help! The rule of law is calling for help!”
