Federal Police raids lower house speaker's official residence in Brasília
Federal Police (PF) has stormed the official residence of the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Eduardo Cunha, in the Lago Sul neighborhood in Brasília. About a dozen police officers arrived in three police cars and cordoned off the house to serve search and seizure warrants as part of Operation Car Wash. A crackdown is also underway at Cunha's home in Rio de Janeiro.
The Federal Police Tactical Operations Command arrived in the so-called Ministers' Peninsula where Cunha's official residence is located in Brasília at 5:50 am, and the operation began at 6 am. Parliament Police is watching the Federal Police raid.
There are reports that other warrants are being served at other locations in Brasília and in other states.
Today, the Board of Ethics of the Chamber of Deputies is expected to vote on the rapporteur's recommendation in the case filed against Eduardo Cunha for alleged unethical parliamentary conduct. Deputy Marcos Rogério, the new rapporteur assigned for the complaint filed by PSOL and REDE parties, upheld the complaint against Cunha saying he should be investigated for ethical misconduct.
