Judge Maria Priscilla Veiga de Oliveira transferred pending charges of money laudering against former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the federal court in Curitiba. Last week, São Paulo state prosecutors filed a complaint and ordered Lula's arrest on charges of concealing ownership of a beachfront triplex apartment in Guarujá, São Paulo coast.

In the sentence, the judge considers that the alleged property-related crimes have a connection to Operation Car Wash investigations and should be probed within the corruption scheme in inquiries opened at the federal level. The magistrate has also removed secrecy regarding the process.

On Friday (Mar. 11) São Paulo state prosecutors said about nearly two dozen people reported that the apartment was meant to belong to former president Lula and his family. Lula's wife, Marisa Letícia, and son, Fábio Luiz Lula da Silva, were also charged of involvement in money laundering.
