Rousseff notified by Supreme Court over calling impeachment a “coup”

Justice Rosa Weber
Supreme Court Justice Rosa Weber granted a motion to notify suspended President Dilma Rousseff's over her referring to the impeachment proceedings against her as a coup d'état. In the ruling issued Tuesday (May 18), Weber upheld a request from six members of the Chamber of Deputies. Rousseff has ten days to respond.
The deputies, who are allies of acting President Michel Temer, said Rousseff's statements are “particularly serious considering the recent national events and the threat of a rupture in Brazilian society caused by such statements.”
They quoted speeches in which Rousseff called the impeachment proceedings against her a “coup”, and asked her to explain what actions the coup she referred to consists of, who is to account for that, what institutions are attacking her authority, and what steps she intends to take to protect the republic, as a head of government and head of state.
