President Michel Temer has said he might include “safeguards” for outsourced workers in the government's labor reform. The government recently signed into law a bill approved by the Chamber of Deputies that lifts restrictions on outsourcing, extending the possibility of outsourcing jobs to activities directly related to the main area of business of an employer both in the public and private sectors.

Temer spoke at the opening session of the LAAD Defense and Security exhibition at Riocentro on Tuesday (April 4). He pointed out that more than outsourcing, the recently passed bill will loosen rules for temporary employment.

However, he went on, the new law may be changed if it proves harmful to workers. “If any safeguards are needed other than those already covered by the law, we will [add them],” he said.
