Temer invites Norwegians to take part in Brazil's “prosperous moment”
President Michel Temer arrives in Oslo to draw the interest of investors
During a meeting with Norwegian investors today (Jun 22), Brazilian President Michel Temer urged them to take part in “this new prosperous moment” Brazil is going through.
In a bid to draw the interest of investors, Temer mentioned the labor and pension reforms, under deliberation in the Legislative, as well as privatizing efforts and concessions being carried out in Brazil's infrastructure sector.
“We want Norwegian investors to be part of this prosperous moment we're living in Brazil. I'm certain and hopeful that more investment is to come in a number of sectors—not just energy. As for trade, we need to boost our exchange with Norway,” the president said in his address at an event held by the Norwegian Shipowners' Association.
Temer highlighted the benefits of investing in Brazil. “We have almost 206 million inhabitants today, and a great source of opportunities. Our energy matrix is clean, our agriculture competitive and sustainable, and we're home to an extremely diversified industrial park,” he said.
The Brazilian president argued that Brazil and Norway should also come closer together by means of the blocs of which the two countries are a member, namely the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)—formed by Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland—and Mercosur.
