On his first day leading the new Extraordinary Ministry of Public Security, Minister Raul Jungmann decided to appoint a new head of the Federal Police, replacing Fernando Segovia with Rogério Galloro as director-general of the law enforcement body. Former executive director of the Federal Police, Galloro is Brazil's current national secretary for public security.

Early this month, Segovia granted an interview with Reuters saying that the evidence in the case where President Michel Temer and other people were brought under investigation by the Federal Police “is fragile.” In the interview, Segovia suggested that the probe “could even ascertain that there was no crime.” Since then, he had been challenged as well as targeted by severe criticism.
