Bolsonaro to undergo hernia operation

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will undergo yet another surgery, this time to fix an incisional hernia. The problem, said Dr. Ricardo Peixoto Camarinha—the president’s doctor—came as a result of the surgical interventions to which Bolsonaro was subjected after being stabbed.
In the presence of his doctors, the president used social media to quip, “In São Paulo with Dr. [Antonio Luiz] Macedo and Dr. Leandro [Echenique, cardiologist] at the moment. By all accounts, I’ll be enjoying a ten-day vacation with them soon enough. Have a great day, everyone.”
The president spent Sunday (Sep 1) in São Paulo, where his state was assessed in the morning. The leader is expected to return to Brasília late on Monday afternoon (2).
History
In September 2018, during his electoral campaign, Bolsonaro was stabbed by an opponent and has undergone three operations since then. The perpetrator, Adélio Bispo de Oliveira, has been held indefinitely at a prison mental institution.
