Bolsonaro undergoes medical treatment in São Paulo
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is to be hospitalized at São Paulo’s Vila Nova Star Hospital, after he was diagnosed with intestinal obstruction. In a report released Wednesday night (Jul. 14), the medical staff declared that any surgical intervention has been ruled out, adding that the president should receive conservative treatment, i.e. treatment based on medications and other non-invasive procedures.
“Mr. President Jair Messias Bolsonaro was transferred on Wednesday night to Vila Nova Star Hospital, in São Paulo, after undergoing an assessment at the Armed Forces hospital, in Brasília, and being diagnosed with intestinal sub-occlusion. After clinical, laboratory, and image evaluations, the president will remain hospitalized, initially receiving a conservative clinical treatment,” the text says. The report does not specify how long the president is to remain hospitalized.
The president arrived at the health care center at around 7 pm after spending the day at the Armed Forces Hospital, in Brasília, where he underwent tests and some procedures.
The decision to have Bolsonaro transferred to São Paulo was made by Dr. Antonio Luiz Macedo, in charge of the surgeries in the president’s abdomen. In the last few days, the president had faced a hiccup crisis.
