President Jair Bolsonaro tested negative for COVID-19. The test was conducted on Sunday morning (Sep. 26) at the Alvorada presidential residence, said press advisers.
The exam was carried out on account of the president’s trip to the US to participate in the 76th United Nations (UN) General Assembly. On Tuesday (21), Brazilian Health Minister Marcelo Queiroga, who was part of the president’s entourage, tested positive for COVID-19. Queiroga is spending quarantine in a hotel in New York.
In addition to delivering the opening address at the assembly, the president met with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to discuss commercial relations between the two countries and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, and with Polish President Andrzej Duda, on the Mercosur–EU agreement, among other topics.
