The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) shall send a mission to Brazil to monitor the elections taking place in October, according to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

The CPLP has an Electoral Network with representatives of electoral bodies from Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, and São Tomé and Príncipe. In an administrative meeting held on Tuesday (April 27), the collegiate approved the sending of the mission to Brazil.

“For the TSE, the participation of the CPLP as an observer of the Brazilian elections is really very important. We reiterate that our motto is peace and security in the elections," said TSE president Edson Fachin.

The Brazilian Superior Electoral Court on April 12 invited CPLP to send an observing mission to the country. Seeking to give greater reliability to this year's electoral process, TSE has intensified invitations to international bodies, such as the Organization of American States (OAS) to participate as observers of the election in Brazil.
