Heads of state congratulate President Lula

After being sworn in at the Congress and giving a speech at the tribune of the Planalto Palace, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received the greetings of heads of state and government and special envoys to Brazil to honor the presidential inauguration.
In all, 18 heads of state came to Brasilia for the ceremony, among them the King of Spain Felipe VI, and the presidents of Germany - Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Portugal - Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Argentina - Alberto Fernandes, and Uruguay - Luís Lacalle Pou.
In the case of Uruguay, two former presidents also came to greet Lula, namely Julio María Sanguinetti (1995-2000) and José Pepe Mujica (2010-2015).
Delegations from 65 countries were present, including heads of state and government, vice presidents, foreign ministers, special envoys, representatives of international organizations, ambassadors, and other diplomats. A total of 120 countries were represented.
After taking part in the ministers' inauguration ceremony at the Planalto Palace, Lula went to the Itamaraty Palace, the headquarters of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where dinner was offered to the foreign authorities.
