Lula undergoes tests and is cleared to return to Brasília
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva underwent a CT scan on Thursday morning (Dec. 19), which indicated he was in good health. He is now expected to return to Brasília, where he should be able to carry out his activities as normal.
According to the medical team at São Paulo’s Sírio-Libanês Hospital, the results were considered “very satisfactory.” The president was even visited by ministers, which confirms the good state of his health.
The doctors also said the tests will be repeated in ten days for a new evaluation, and advised him not to exercise during this period.
The Brazilian leader is expected to spend end-of-the-year celebrations in the capital.
History
President Lula had undergone emergency surgery at the beginning of December to drain a brain bleed on his head from a fall he suffered in October. A few days later, on December 12, he was submitted to procedure to prevent further bleeding. Last Sunday (15), the president was discharged from hospital and went to his home in Alto de Pinheiros, São Paulo, to recover.
