Moroccan boxer Sassan Saada, taken to jail under charges of sexual harassment against two cleaning ladies at the Olympic Village, should be transferred Friday (Aug. 5) to a state prison in Rio de Janeiro. He is to be sent to a common cell in the general ward, in compliance with the Brazilian law. The decision to keep the Olympian detained for 15 days was issued by a judge in Rio de Janeiro.

Judge Larissa Saly, who handed down the ruling, deemed his arrest necessary since the case involves a foreign sportsman with no fixed residence in Brazil. “It is unbelievable that an athlete who should come to the country and convey the message of the Olympic spirit acts with utter disrespect towards those who welcome him, committing heinous acts which are repudiated everywhere in the world,” the magistrate wrote.
