Posts under More Doctors 96% occupied
Brazil’s Health Ministry reported that 96.6 percent of the posts under the More Doctors program have been filled. The medics must report in their assigned locations by December 14.
Until Sunday (Nov. 25), 29,780 doctors officially registered in Brazil’s Regional Medical Council (CRM) applied for a position in the initiative, of which 20,767 had their application accepted, and 8,230 have been assigned to a municipality for immediate work. Forty doctors have reported in their designated basic health units.
As part of the latest tender offer, 8,517 posts were made available across 2,824 municipalities and 34 sanitary indigenous districts. These are positions previously occupied by doctors from a cooperation deal forged with Cuba. The deadline for applications ends on December 7.
