COVID-19: Brazil reaches 2.6 mi cases, 91.2 thousand deaths

Thus far, 1,824,095 Brazilians have recovered from the disease

Brazil’s total case tally of COVID-19 has reached 2,610,102. In 24 hours, more than 57,837 people have been reported infected. The figures can be found in the official daily update, released Thursday evening (Jul. 30) by the Health Ministry.

The report also includes the mark of 1,129 people killed by the disease in 24 hours, raising the country’s death toll to 91,263. There are also 3,591 deaths under investigation.

Also according to the document, 694,744 patients are being monitored. Another 1,824,095 people have recovered from COVID-19.

The lethality rate (number of deaths divided by the total case count) stood at 3.5 percent. The mortality (deaths for every 100 thousand people) reached 43.3. The incidence of COVID-19 cases for every 100 thousand is 1,242.

COVID-19 across the states

São Paulo (529,006/22,710) and Rio de Janeiro (163,642/13.348) in the Southeast, and Ceará (171.468/7.661) in the Northeast, have most notifications of COVID-19 cases and deaths among all 27 Brazilian states.

Amapá, Roraima, and Tocantins, in the North, listed among the states least affected by the pandemic, saw a sharp increase in the 30th epidemiological week (July 19 through 25) compared to the previous one. Roraima reported a higher growth in both deaths and cases: 80 and 146 percent respectively. Amapá experienced a surge in the number of fatal cases in the same period (53%), as well as Tocantins (41%).
