Brazil reaches over 500 thousand deaths from COVID-19

From Saturday to Sunday, 44.1k cases and 1,025 deaths were reported

Brazil’s Ministry of Health has disclosed the new figures on the COVID-19 pandemic in the country: 17.9 million cases of the disease confirmed and 501.8 thousand deaths. Recovered cases total 16.2 million.

According to the data sent to the ministry by state health secretariats, 44.1 thousand new cases and 1,025 fatalities were registered from Saturday to Sunday.

São Paulo state has the highest number of cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic, with 3.5 million sick and 122 thousand killed by COVID-19.

Next come the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais (1.7 million cases, 44.5 thousand deaths), Paraná (1.2 million cases, 29.9 thousand deaths), and Rio Grande do Sul (1.1 million cases, 30.4 thousand deaths).
