Fernando de Noronha archipelago requires booster dose from visitors

Tourists wishing to visit Fernando de Noronha, a volcanic archipelago about 350 kilometers off Brazil's northeast coast, should pay attention to the new requirements of its administration. Since Tuesday (Jan. 18) a booster dose is required for people aged over 55. Both the antigen test and the RT-PCR test are accepted and must be shown together with the digital vaccination card.

To enter the archipelago, people up to 54 years of age must have, upon boarding, the digital vaccination card with two doses of the vaccine, including Janssen. The second shot must have been taken at least 14 days before travel. 

Furthermore, all visitors must show a negative RT-PCR test, taken no more than 48 hours before travel, or an antigen test 24 hours before departure. Children aged 7 to 11 need only one of the required tests. A vaccination card is not necessary. Children under the age of 6 do not need a test.

30% of passengers on each flight or vessel, chosen by lot, on departure from the island, must be tested as part of the new archipelago's policy. 

Vaccination of children

Children aged 5 to 11 living in Fernando de Noronha started to be vaccinated against COVID-19 on Tuesday (17). Children with chronic neurological diseases, neurological development disorders such as Down syndrome and autism, or other severe diseases shall have priority.
