Brazil has recorded 5,008 deaths from dengue fever in 2024—over four times higher than last year’s 1,179. Deaths still under investigation total 2,137.

The data comes from the Arbovirus Monitoring Panel, which also indicates that the amount of probable cases of dengue in the country has reached 6,449,380 in 2024. The incidence rate of the disease stands at 3,176.1 cases per 100 thousand people, and the lethality rate in probable cases is 0.08.

Of the probable cases, 55 percent are women and 45 percent are men. The 20–29 age group accounts for the largest number of infected people, followed by 30–39 and 40–49. The groups with the fewest cases are infants under one year old, people aged 80 and over, and 1–4-year-olds.
