Brazil's 2013 GDP growth below global average
IMF estimates global economy to have grown an average 3% in 2013

Brazil's 2.3% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in 2013 was below the average global growth of 3% estimated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Brazilian Geography and Statistics Institute (IBGE) reported Tuesday (Feb. 27).
The report shows that Brazil's growth was behind China's (7.7%) and South Korea's (2.8%), but ahead of the US (1.9%), the UK (1.9%), South Africa (1.9%), Japan (1.6%), Mexico (1.1%), Germany (0.4%), France (0.3%), and Belgium (0.2%).
Spain and Italy reported GDP declines in 2013 – 1.2% and 1.9% respectively. In the euro area overall, the decline was 0.4%.
