Brazil’s Foreign Ministry announced Saturday (Dec, 21) that the country has been elected for another term as chair of the United Nations (UN) Peacebuilding Commission (PBC).
The election took place by acclamation on December 19 and will be valid from 2025 to 2026.
The commission was created in 2005, with the participation of Brazil, in order to coordinate international efforts to promote sustainable and lasting peace.
This year, Brazil held the chair of the commission and advocated strengthening the body to prevent international conflicts and consolidate peace by 2025.
Brazil has participated in the commission’s activities continuously since 2010.
