Dollar increases and surpasses R$3.50
After falling on Wednesday (Aug. 12), dollar rose again on Thursday (Aug. 13) and surpassed R$3.50 for the first time in a week.
The exchange rate was recorded on the increase throughout the session. In the highest of the day, the dollar was at R$3.523 and closed the day at R$3.514, a rise of R$ 0.039 (1.13%). Thus, the US currency shows a rise of 2.59% in August and 32.2% in 2015.
External factors pressured the exchange rate. For third consecutive day, the Chinese currency has devalued against US dollar. Since Tuesday (Aug. 11), yuan is 4.5% lower, the biggest drop in two decades.
Chinese Central Bank described the devaluation as a measure to better reflect the new reality of market. According to Chinese central bank officials, yuan remains strong and the adjustment started three days ago is almost complete. The decision of the monetary authority of Singapore boosted dollar worldwide.
