Dollar drops almost 2% and posts lowest rate in two weeks
After two consecutive rises, dollar currency dropped on Wednesday (Dec. 9) and stood at R$ 3.73. It is the lowest rate since November 24th, when the dollar was sold at R$3.70. With today's performance, the dollar is 3.85% down in December, but the year-to-date rate stands at 40.56% up.
In the stock market, it was a good day for recovery. After three consecutive falls, São Paulo Stock Exchange index, Ibovespa, rose 3.75% and posted 46108.03 points. The increase was driven by Petrobras whose common stock rose 10.8% and preferred stock were 7.29% up.
On Wednesday (Dec. 8), the Central Bank (BC) announced that in November, the net inflow was $3.895 billion. The month's best result for foreign exchange flow since August. The monetary authority continued to renew contracts. The BC extended expiration date of 11,260 dollar sale contracts to expire in January.
