The sea fields produced 93.8% of oil and 76.6% of natural gas.
Brazil's production from 56 pre-salt wells reached 1.146 million barrels of oil equivalent (oil and natural gas) a day in May. The output increased 15.2% compared with April. The figures were disclosed today (Jul. 5) by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). Of this total, 928,900 barrels a day were related to oil extraction. The natural gas totaled 34.5 million m³ per day.
ANP data indicate that Brazil's oil and natural gas production in May totaled 3.115 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. Of this total, oil production stood approximately at 2.487 million barrels per day, up 8.6% compared with the previous month and 3.1% compared with May last year.
The natural gas output totaled 99.8 million m³ per day, up 4.2% compared with April and 7.2% compared with May, 2015.
The use of natural gas extracted from domestic fields reached 96.3% in May, burning 3.7 million m³/ d, up 8.3% compared with the previous month and 14.5% compared with May last year.
Producing fields
For the production, there were 8,920 wells—770 sea and 8,150 land wells. The sea fields produced 93.8% of oil and 76.6% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 94% of oil and natural gas.
Once again, the Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest oil and natural gas producer, an average of 439,400 barrels of oil were produced per day and 19 million m³/ d of natural gas.
The oil field that most produced was platform P-58, producing 168,700 barrels of oil equivalent in the fields of Baleia Anã, Baleia Azul, Baleia Franca and Jubarte, through 11 connected wells.
