Brazil population estimated at over 210 million

São Paulo state is home the largest number of people — over 45 million

Brazil’s government statistics agency IBGE released today (28) the country’s estimates on population. For July 1, 2019, Brazil is home to  210,147,125 people.

On July 1 last year, the amount was  208,494,900—up 0.79 percent, or 1,652,225 people.

The highest amount of people is to be found in São Paulo state—45,919,049, up 0.83 percent from last year’s 45,538,936. Minas Gerais comes second, with 21,168,791, followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 17,264,943.

The state with the smallest population is still Roraima, home to 605,761 people, up 5.06 percent from the 576,568 registered last year. Amapá is the second least populous state, with 845,731 people, followed by Acre’s 881,935.
