Banned from stadiums in Argentina for their history of violence, the barrabravas, as Argentine football hooligans are called, are also forbidden to attend the games of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Ministry of Justice reports that, from June 12, when the opening ceremony was held, up to today (24), 32 Argentinians had their entry in Brazil denied, of whom 18 attempted to come into the country by plane, and 14 by land. Two others, who managed to cross the borders, were identified and ordered to leave the Brazilian territory in 72 hours.

Ever since the World Cup began, authorities in Brazil and 36 countries have worked together to prevent unwelcome individuals from coming to the country. Argentine officials have released a list with over 2 thousand names of Argentinians who have been members of violent groups of football fans.

The joint effort has also resulted in the arrest, on June 16, of Mexican drug dealer José Díaz Barajas. He was wanted in the US and was spotted at the Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro when trying to board a plane headed for Fortaleza with his wife and two children. He intended to watch Brazil and Mexico play on June 17.
