In november, 8,381 payroll jobs were created in the country, according to data from the General Record of Employed and Unemployed Persons (CAGED, in its Portuguese acronym), released Thursday (Dec 18) by the Ministry of Labor. The figure results from deducting the 1,604,625 redundancies from the 1,613,006 admissions, and represents a reduction of 88% from November last year, when the country generated 69,361 openings.
The year accumulated rate still represents a growth, with 938,043 new jobs, but it is the lowest figure since 2003, data from Caged indicate.
According to the ministry, the negative unemployment in the market was brought about by a drop in hiring in the construction sector, followed by a fall in the manufacturing industry and agriculture.
