One of the most sought-after destinations in South America among Brazilians, the city of Cusco, Peru, will have a vice-consulate to serve Brazilian tourists visiting the region.

This week, President Jair Bolsonaro signed a decree creating the agency in Cusco and turning Brazil’s consulate in Iquitos, also in Peru, into a vice-consulate.

The diplomatic representation in Iquitos provides assistance in the Amazon border area, as well as support in cooperation and cost reduction. The change should have no effect on service quality.

Both vice-consulates answer to Brazil’s Embassy in Lima. The new units will be installed after approval by the Peruvian government.
