The CNT/MDA poll published Monday (Mar. 23) by the National Confederation of Transport (CNT) revealed that a considerable majority of Brazilians (64.8%) disapprove of President Dilma Rousseff's administration. Only 10.8% of respondents gave positive ratings to the government. Neutral ratings accounted for 23.6%.

The government received the lowest approval ratings since October 1999, when Fernando Henrique Cardoso was given favorable reviews by 8% of the respondents.

The poll was conducted between March 16 and 19 with 2,002 respondents in 137 municipalities across 25 Brazilian states, and covered both the government and the president's personal ratings.

In the previous poll carried out on September 27-28 during the election campaign, Rousseff enjoyed a favorable reputation with 41% of respondents. Negative perceptions were found among 23.5% of respondents, while 35% gave “fair” ratings, and 0.5% of respondents were undecided or did not answer.

President Rousseff's personal performance was considered good by 18.9% of respondents and poor by 77%, whereas 3.4% were undecided or did not answer. In the previous poll, 55.6% approved of her performance, 40.1% disapproved, and 4.3% were unsure or did not answer.

Asked about the possibility of impeaching President Dilma Rousseff, 59.7% of respondents said they supported the idea, 34.7% opposed, and 5.6% were undecided or did not answer. The poll went on to ask respondents whether they believed in the effectiveness of the government's current policies to address the political and economic crisis, to which 66.95% answered no.

About the priorities for the second term of the re-elected president which began in January this year, the poll found that 66.7% of respondents wanted better health services. Education was a priority for 46.8% of the respondents, followed by employment (24.6%); security (23.5%); economy (13.3%); housing (6.6%); transport (5.5%) and sanitation (2.6%).
