Bolsonaro taps Congress member in his party as Tourism minister

Brazil’s Extraordinary Government Transition Minister Onyx Lorenzoni announced Federal Deputy Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, of the Social Liberal Party (PSL) as the future minister of Tourism under Jair Bolsonaro’s administration. Marcelo Álvaro is serving his second tenure and was the most voted-for lawmaker from Minas Gerais state in the last elections, with over 230 thousand votes.
Marcelo Álvaro Antônio is a member of the evangelical caucus in Congress. He is the second minister from the PSL to be tapped, following Gustavo Bebianno, to be named the president’s secretary-general.
