President Dilma Rouseff said on Wednesday (Nov 5) that the new finance minister will only be appointed after she comes back from Australia, where she is taking part in a G20 summit meeting, on November 15 and 16. G20 is a group made up of the world's 20 biggest economies.
Rousseff made her statement after an event at the Palácio do Planalto, seat of the Brazilian government, during which she received the support of the Social Democratic Party, headed by former São Paulo mayor Gilberto Kassab. When asked whether she would choose Guido Mantega's surrogate before the G20 meeting, Rousseff answered, “there's no time.”
According to the president, the new appointments for the ministry will be piecemeal.
