Brazil generated 218,902 formal jobs in July
Brazil generated 218,902 formal jobs in July. Year to date, formal jobs have reached 1,560,896, as shown in the New CAGED (General Registry of the Employed and Unemployed), released today (Aug 29) by the country’s Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Between August 2021 and July 2022 (last 12 months), the balance stood at a positive 2,549,939, bringing the total amount of registered workers up to 42,239,251.
The five segments surveyed saw positive balances in July. The most significant growth was in services, with a positive 81,873 formal jobs. Industry recorded 50,503 new posts, and commerce generated 38,574.
Year to date, services had the largest number of jobs (874,203), followed by industry, with 266,824 new jobs, and construction (216,585).
São Paulo was the state with the highest number of formal jobs in the month: 67,009, up 0.51 percent. Minas Gerais added 19,060 new posts (0.43%), and Paraná 16,090 (0.55%).
“Regionally, the highlight was the North, with a growth of 0.8 percent of the labor force—the highest relative growth of all five Brazilian regions,” the ministry noted.
Regarding salaries, for the second month in a row an increase was observed in the real salary upon admission. The pay settled for averaged BRL 1,926.54 in July, up 0.8 percent.
