Brazil’s federal government collected BRL 172.03 billion in taxes in November, the Revenue Service reported Wednesday (Dec. 21). The amount is the highest for the month since 2013. Compared to November last year, the total increase stands at 3.25 percent, as per the country’s consumer price index IPCA.

Year to date, collection totaled BRL 2 trillion, up 8.8 percent above the inflation—the highest since 2000 for the same time span.

The Revenue Service disclosed the main macro-economic indicators that help evaluate tax collection, both in the month and year to date. Chief among them is the sale of services, up 9.5 percent in October (the main driver behind the performance in November) and up 8.81 percent year to date and the country’s wage bill, which holds a bulky 20.23 percent growth in the month (18.73 percent year to date), from the same month of 2021.
