Brazil presidential candidates still tied
Candidates Aécio Neves (of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party, PSDB) and Dilma Rousseff (of the Workers' Party, PT) are still technically tied in the presidential dispute to be settled on October 26. In an opinion poll from the Datafolha Institute, Neves is reported to have 45% of vote support, and his rival Rousseff with 43. Blank and spoiled ballots plus add up to 6%. Those who have not made a decision yet also amount to 6%. In the previous survey, PSDB's challenger garnered 46% of support, against PT's 44%.
Neves is seen with 51% and Rousseff with 49% when only valid votes are taken into account, i.e., undecided voters plus blank and spoiled ballots not considered.
Bearing in mind the plus or minus 2% margin of error, the probe reveals no change in the scenario between the first survey, conducted on October 8 and 9, and the second, carried out yesterday (14) and today.
The poll was commissioned by TV Globo and newspaper Folha de S. Paulo, and surveyed 9,081 electors.
