As of the reading of the committee-approved report that recommended trying the impeachment case against President Dilma Rousseff, senators have 48 hours to hold a voting session on the floor. The session to deliberate on the case is expected to begin Wednesday (May 11).
If a motion to try gets approved on the floor, Rousseff will be immediately suspended from office for up to 180 days. During this period, senators will decide if the president has committed impeachable offenses and should be removed from office permanently.
