Brazil's Foreign Minister José Serra resigned his cabinet position citing health issues. Serra went to the presidential Planalto palace Wednesday (Feb. 22) to give President Michel Temer his resignation letter.
Serra said he has been undergoing medical care and his health routines make it difficult for him to keep his activities and international travel engagements as foreign minister, and his recovery is expected to take at least four months.
Saying he was sorry to quit, he promised to work hard to approve bills to advance economic recovery, social development, and Brazilian democracy as he reassumes his seat in Senate.
